The designer label has taken on almost mythical qualities for some. Expensive clothing flies off the racks in stores all over the Western world, even if some of it doesn’t look that great. Why? Because of the label. Several companies have built up a reputation and a corporate awareness without a majority of people even having used the product, and the reason for this is corporate branding.

Tattoos are increasingly popular as a way of showing one’s commitment to a loved one, due in no small part to their permanence. There are countless tales of young lovers getting each others’ names tattooed on one another in situations where they cannot practically get married, thus demonstrating a monogamous commitment to stay together come what may.
Even with the advent of laser surgery the removal of a tattoo is still an expensive and long-winded process, so if you’re getting someone’s name tattooed somewhere intimate you would be well advised to make sure that you both feel the relationship will endure. A future partner will never, no matter how brave a face they may put on, be comfortable with you carrying a reminder of a previous relationship – one which you once valued enough to mark yourself permanently.

Professional soccer icon David Beckham has had his name on people’s lips since forever, with the reasons for this ranging from his epic dead-ball striking abilities, through his occasionally cringeworthy comments to the press, right up to his celebrity lifestyle and marriage to ex-pop star Victoria Beckham. The first truly global star to ply his trade in America’s MLS, Beckham will not drop off the global media’ radar any time soon thanks in no small part to his own media savvy, and his bankability as a subject for press stories.

There is no little similarity between the appropriation in tattoo form of Celtic imagery and Oriental imagery, right down in many cases to the fact that both are often picked as a fashionable look by people who have no actual heritage from those civilizations. Just as the Celtic band is a big seller even outside of people with Celtic heritage, the Oriental look – big and intricate as it is – has become a popular choice in Western, and particularly American society.
